By vacuuming short-pile rugs properly, excessive dust will disappear over time. In addition, the pile lies flat when the rug just comes out of the packaging. Vacuuming straightens the pile and gives the rug a fuller appearance.
DeLuxe rugs are characterised by the small glitter in the fabric. Again, the pile will lie flatter as soon as the rug comes out of its packaging. Vacuuming will straighten it again and give the rug a fuller appearance.
Proper vacuuming is part of daily/weekly maintenance and prevents the pile from lying flat. In addition, most stains are easy to remove as long as quick action is taken. Absorb the stain as quickly as possible with a towel. Place a bath towel wrung out with tepid water on the stain that remains and leave it until it is dry. If there are still traces of dirt, place a new, clean, damp towel on top and repeat the procedure until the stain no longer gives off dirt. Leave the towel again until it is dry. If a solid substance is spilt, remove it first with a spoon. If a stain remains here too, apply the method described above. This method generally works well for stains from drinks and food, as well as blood, vomit or urine.
In any case, do NOT use soapy detergents or salt. NEVER rub the stain, only dab it. Rubbing may enlarge the spot and damage the carpet pile.
Thorough cleaning is a solution when vacuuming is no longer sufficient. One option is deep cleaning by a specialised company.
